Frequently asked questions
A ready-to-grow mushroom kit (or as we love to call it, Bloom Bag) contains a substrate that has already been inoculated with mushroom mycelium. This means the fungus has already started growing, and you're just providing the right conditions for it to fruit (produce mushrooms). Think of it like a mini indoor mushroom farm!

Not really! Our kits are designed to be user-friendly. You'll generally need a clean environment, a little bit of water for misting, and a well-lit area (indirect light is best).
This can vary depending on the mushroom species and environmental conditions, but you can generally expect to see pins (baby mushrooms) within 7-21 days after starting the fruiting process.
"Pins" are the very early stages of mushroom growth. They look like tiny bumps or knots forming on the surface of the substrate. It's an exciting sign that your mushrooms are on their way!
Choose a location with indirect light (like a windowsill that doesn't get direct sun), good airflow (but avoid drafts), and a stable temperature (ideally between 60-75°F). Ensure the location gets cleaned using isopropyl alcohol.
You'll generally need to mist the inside of the fruiting bag or the surface of the substrate 2-3 times a day to maintain humidity. The goal is to see tiny droplets of water, not soaking wet conditions.
If the inside of the bag or the substrate surface looks dry, you need to mist more. If there's standing water or excessive condensation, you might be misting too much.
A little bit of discoloration or fuzzy growth at the base of the substrate is sometimes normal. However, if you see green, black, or other vibrant colored mold, it could be contamination. Contact our support team with photos for guidance.
This depends on the mushroom species. Generally, you'll want to harvest before the caps fully open and release their spores. Check the specific instructions for your kit.
The best way is usually to gently twist and pull the entire cluster from the base. Avoid cutting them, as this can leave behind decaying material.
Yes, most of our kits are capable of producing multiple flushes. After your first harvest, allow the substrate to rest for a week or two, continue misting, and you should see another set of mushrooms grow. Subsequent flushes may be smaller.
Once the kit is exhausted (stops producing mushrooms), you can compost the substrate. It's a great way to enrich your garden soil!
First, double-check that you're following the instructions carefully. Ensure the temperature and humidity are within the recommended range. If you're still having trouble, contact our customer support with details about your setup and environment.
If you're unsure about the appearance of your mushrooms, it's best not to eat them. Send us clear photos, and we'll do our best to assist you.
Mushrooms will grow where they find the best conditions. This is normal and won't affect their quality. You can still harvest them.
That is correct! Mushrooms contain a compound called chitin which is difficult for humans to digest. It breaks down when cooking, making it easier for our bodies and allows us to absorb their nutrients.
